What is the Lipah Beach?
Lipah Beach, also known as Lipah Bay, is a gently sloping house reef dive site located in Amed. Known for calm conditions and consistent marine life, it offers a relaxed and versatile dive experience.
The reef begins shallow and gradually slopes deeper, allowing divers to explore comfortably at their own pace. It is equally popular for diving and snorkelling, particularly in the colourful shallower coral sections.
Why dive at the Lipah Beach?
Lipah Beach stands out for how much it offers in one location. Shallow coral gardens, sandy patches and deeper reef sections combine to create a dive that suits a wide range of experience levels.
The site is particularly well known for turtle sightings and, along with Amed Pyramids, is one of the more reliable places in the area to encounter them. In the shallows, the reef is calm and colourful, while deeper sections attract larger fish and slightly more movement.
It works well for relaxed dives, repeat dives and mixed-experience groups, making it a dependable choice in Amed.
What can you see at the Lipah Beach?
Marine life at Lipah Beach is varied and accessible. Divers regularly encounter:
- Green turtles grazing along the reef
- Juvenile white-tip reef sharks resting under table corals
- Garden eels scattered across sandy areas
- Reef fish and small schooling species
- Nudibranchs and other macro life
- Blue-spotted stingrays resting on the sand
- Healthy coral gardens in the shallows
Turtles are one of the highlights here and are frequently seen feeding calmly along the reef. Marine life varies by depth, with plenty to discover both shallow and deeper along the slope.
Typical Dive Day Setup
At Bali Dive Cove, we typically organise two to three dives per day. We meet at the dive centre at 8am before heading to the dive site. Lipah Beach is located around a 10-minute drive from the centre and is accessed as a shore dive. It can be included as part of a relaxed Amed diving day, with two-dive trips usually finishing around lunchtime and three dives concluding at approximately 2pm.
Lipah Beach can be used for Open Water training dives or included in the Advanced Open Water and speciality training courses.
