To kick start our honeymoon we decided to get our scuba diving certifications. We managed to do the open water and the advanced open water in 6 days (including 1 rest day). We did night dives, sunrise dives, shipwreck, drift and deep and lots more. Really good fun and Amed has enough to explore for both courses.
Wow, Wow, Wow! Could not recommend any other place to go if you are looking at diving in Amed. Myself and my friend completed our Advanced Open Water course (followed by a number of fun dives), with Wayan and the team at Bali Dive Cove. The whole experience was seamless!
This package combines relaxed Amed reef diving with one of Bali’s most memorable experiences, the USAT Liberty Wreck.
Amed’s reefs offer varied dive profiles with a mix of coral slopes, sandy patches and wall sections, creating dives that feel different from site to site.
• Jemeluk Drop Off (Jemeluk Wall) – A varied dive that often begins over a sandy area, where seahorses and other small critters can sometimes be found before the reef begins. From there, the site moves across a coral-covered plateau and gradually transitions into a deeper wall from around 12 metres. Expect healthy coral, occasional turtles, schools of bigmouth mackerel and a wide range of reef life including moray eels, lionfish and macro critters.
• Amed Pyramids – A distinctive reef site where a series of hollow pyramid structures have been placed alongside a natural sloping reef. Over time, these structures have become fully integrated into the environment, now covered in coral and acting as shelter for a wide range of marine life. The combination of artificial structures, sandy patches and reef creates a varied dive with plenty to explore. Expect turtles, schools of snapper and fusiliers moving through the pyramids, along with macro life such as nudibranchs, shrimp and octopus hidden around the base. Gentle currents can create a relaxed drift, adding movement to the dive and occasionally bringing in larger passing species.
A highlight of this package is diving the USAT Liberty Wreck, with the option to start early for a sunrise experience or dive at a more relaxed time in the morning.
• USAT Liberty Wreck – Bali’s most iconic dive site, located just metres from shore. The wreck lies from around 5 to 30 metres and is fully covered in coral, attracting large schools of fish and diverse marine life
Most itineraries include two dives on the Liberty:
– The first dive explores the outer structure, coral growth and schooling fish
– The second dive offers the option to explore swim-throughs and more detailed sections
Sunrise dives are optional and offer quieter conditions and increased marine activity.
Depending on conditions and preference, one of your Tulamben dives can be paired with:
• Tulamben Drop Off – A dramatic reef and wall dive where a coral slope transitions into a steep drop into deep blue water, offering a strong sense of depth and open space
Dive sites are selected based on sea conditions, visibility and your experience level, ensuring the best possible experience across both Amed and Tulamben.
