To kick start our honeymoon we decided to get our scuba diving certifications. We managed to do the open water and the advanced open water in 6 days (including 1 rest day). We did night dives, sunrise dives, shipwreck, drift and deep and lots more. Really good fun and Amed has enough to explore for both courses.
Wow, Wow, Wow! Could not recommend any other place to go if you are looking at diving in Amed. Myself and my friend completed our Advanced Open Water course (followed by a number of fun dives), with Wayan and the team at Bali Dive Cove. The whole experience was seamless!
This package focuses on either Amed reef diving or a trip to Tulamben, offering two distinct but equally rewarding experiences.
Amed’s reefs are full of life, offering colourful coral, varied terrain and a wide range of marine species.
• Jemeluk Drop Off (Jemeluk Wall) – A varied dive beginning in a sandy area (where seahorses are sometimes found) before transitioning onto a coral reef and sloping wall. Expect reef fish, occasional turtles, schools of bigmouth mackerel and plenty of macro life hidden across the reef.
• Amed Pyramids – A unique reef site where hollow pyramid structures have become part of the natural reef. The mix of sand and coral attracts turtles, schools of snapper and fusiliers, along with nudibranchs, shrimp and octopus. Currents can vary, sometimes creating a gentle drift and occasionally bringing in larger pelagic species.
Dives in Amed can be done either from shore or by traditional jukung boat.
Tulamben offers a completely different underwater landscape, with volcanic sand, coral-covered wrecks and dramatic reef formations.
• USAT Liberty Wreck – Bali’s most famous dive site, located just metres from shore. The wreck lies between 5–30 metres and is fully covered in coral, attracting large schools of fish and diverse marine life.
Most divers choose two dives here:
– The first explores the outer structure and reef life
– The second allows for swim-throughs and a closer look inside the wreck
• Tulamben Drop Off – A dramatic reef and wall dive where a coral slope drops into deep blue water. Expect healthy coral, reef fish, moray eels and macro life, with occasional larger species passing through.
Dive sites are selected based on sea conditions, visibility and your experience level to ensure the best possible experience on the day.
