To kick start our honeymoon we decided to get our scuba diving certifications. We managed to do the open water and the advanced open water in 6 days (including 1 rest day). We did night dives, sunrise dives, shipwreck, drift and deep and lots more. Really good fun and Amed has enough to explore for both courses.
Wow, Wow, Wow! Could not recommend any other place to go if you are looking at diving in Amed. Myself and my friend completed our Advanced Open Water course (followed by a number of fun dives), with Wayan and the team at Bali Dive Cove. The whole experience was seamless!
With six dives included, this package offers a mix of Amed reef diving, the USAT Liberty Wreck and additional Tulamben reef and wall sites.
Amed’s reefs provide a great contrast to Tulamben, with healthy coral and a wide variety of marine life.
• Jemeluk Drop Off (Jemeluk Wall) – A varied dive that typically begins over a sandy area before reaching a coral-covered reef that slopes into a deeper wall. This creates a balanced profile with plenty to explore at different depths. Expect reef fish, occasional turtles, schools of bigmouth mackerel and a mix of macro life throughout the reef.
• Amed Pyramids – A distinctive site where artificial pyramid structures sit alongside a natural reef slope. These structures attract schools of fish, turtles and a wide range of macro life including nudibranchs, shrimp and octopus. Light currents can create a gentle drift, adding variety to the dive.
Dives can be done either from shore or by traditional jukung boat, depending on conditions and preference.
A key part of this package is diving the USAT Liberty Wreck, with the option to dive at sunrise or later in the morning.
• USAT Liberty Wreck – A shallow, coral-covered wreck accessible from shore, stretching from around 5 to 30 metres. It attracts large schools of fish, reef species and macro life.
We include two dives on the Liberty, allowing you to explore different sections of the wreck:
– The first dive focuses on the outer structure and overall layout
– The second dive offers the option to explore swim-throughs and more detailed areas
Sunrise dives are optional and offer quieter conditions and increased marine activity.
This package also includes additional dives in Tulamben beyond the wreck, adding more variety to your experience.
• Coral Gardens – A shallow, colourful reef located beside the Liberty Wreck, known for vibrant coral formations, anemones and a high density of reef fish
• Tulamben Drop Off – A dramatic reef and wall dive where a coral slope transitions into a steep drop into deep blue water, creating a strong sense of depth and open space
Your itinerary can be adjusted based on your interests. In place of standard sites, you may choose to explore:
• Kubu Wreck – A smaller, quieter wreck with excellent coral growth and visibility
• Japanese Wreck + Lipah Beach or Lean Wall – A mix of wreck and reef for a varied dive day
• Bunutan + Amed Wall (boat dives) – Drift dives with the chance to encounter larger pelagic species
• Muck diving sites – Ideal for macro lovers, with unique critters hidden in sandy environments
Some of these sites are better suited to Advanced Open Water divers due to depth or current conditions.
A site fee of IDR 50,000 may apply for Kubu, Japanese Wreck and selected muck diving sites.
Dive plans are finalised based on sea conditions, diver experience and your preferences.
Dive schedules are adjusted throughout your trip to ensure the best possible conditions and a varied diving experience.
